German conservatives want legal, police boost after Amri report

Berlin (dpa) - Germany's conservative bloc called Friday for more federal powers and increased police numbers in the wake of a damning report highlighting mistakes made by authorities in the leadup to December's deadly terrorist attack in Berlin.
Stephan Harbarth, the deputy parliamentary party leader for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU), told Germany's Rhein-Neckar newspaper that the state needs more powers.
