MVA appeal for help identifying accident victim
OSHAKATI, 13 SEP (NAMPA) Ė The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA) is appealing to the public to assist in tracing the relatives of a man who is recuperating in hospital after he was hit by a vehicle on 01 June 2017.
The unidentified pedestrian was reportedly hit by a vehicle in the Sean MacBride Street in Olympia residence in Windhoek at about 19h00 on that day.
According to a media release issued on Wednesday, the man sustained serious head and spinal injuries during the accident and was admitted to Lady Pohamba Private Hospital.
Upon stabilisation, the patient was transferred to Katutura State Hospital where he has been recovering and receiving necessary medical and rehabilitation care to date.
As a result of the trauma suffered, the patient is reportedly unable to speak, hence no details have been provided to either the medical personnel or the MVA Fund as no claim has yet been made on behalf of the patient.
The patient is expected to be released in the care of a family member who should continue with his rehabilitation plan from home.
However, this is not feasible as there are no traceable particulars of the patient or details of relatives that can be contacted for support.
Additionally, the Fundís Investigation Officer has allegedly submitted the patientís finger prints to the Ministry of Home Affairs for possible identification and results are still pending.
The MVA is therefore requesting anyone who has information regarding the patient or his next of kin to contact Eugene Van Wyk from MVA Fund on 061 289 7133 or 081 846 8306.
