Nambundunga accorded State funeral

WINDHOEK, 22 JAN (NAMPA) – Former army commander, Retired Major General Peter Nambundunga, has been accorded a State funeral by President Hage Geingob.
Nambundunga died at Ongwediva on 14 January 2019, at the age of 72.
A statement issued Monday said a period of national mourning during which all flags in Namibia will be flown at half-mast, will be observed from 23 to 26 January 2019.
With a State funeral, Government arranges the burial and covers all funeral costs.

Otjiwarongo residents attempt to grab land in Ombili

OTJIWARONGO, 22 JAN (NAMPA) - More than 100 residents of Otjiwarongo on Monday attempted to grab unserviced municipal land in the new Ombili informal settlement.
Equipped with rakes, shovels, axes and hoes, they started demarcating and clearing land before members of the Namibian Police Force and municipality officials intervened.
Erwin Haraseb, 33, said he applied for an erf in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and has not received a convincing response yet.
